Summer The Indiana Bat will be in the trees. So look for dead or dying trees, because there is a good chance they will be there.
Winter These bats hibernate. So look for roomy caves with plenty of ceiling room. Because these bats hibernate in Southern Indiana, that is the place you would want to look. Because it is endangered, entering most of these caves is also illegal.
Telemetry Tracking You need to place a transmitter on the bat, but don't worry, it's harmless. It's just a small metal band that wraps around the bats' wing. This band is light enough that it can still fly. You will also need a receiver for the transmitter to signal to. An antenna will also be needed to capture these signals. When using the antenna, point it anywhere, and listen for a series of beeps. When the beeps get softer, try a different direction. If they get louder, it means that you are getting closer to the transmitter. Keep following the loudest beeps and make sure to check for loud beeps often. Eventually, you will find your transmitter, which will be on the same bat that you tagged.
